Megan McClung Memorial Run in the Media





On Saturday, Sept. 9, the Megan McClung Memorial Run will honor her life, legacy and love of running. The race features a 1k kid’s run, 5k, 10k and half marathon in Oak Harbor. All finishers in the 8-and-under 1k will receive medals, and adult runners in every division will receive a race coin. The first male and female finisher in the half marathon will be entered into the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C.

RAMADI, Iraq - Almost a decade has past since the death of U.S. Marine Maj. Megan M. McClung but her legacy continues to grow with every year since her passing in 2006.
'Be brief. Be Bold. Be Gone.'

Lynn Kinney(L), Megan McClung(center) and Amy Forsythe(r) served together during their deployment to Camp Fallujah, Iraq in 2006. They were assigned to the Camp Pendleton-based I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) Public Affairs Office. This photo was taken at Camp Fallujah in April 2006. McClung was killed by an IED in Ramadi, Iraq, Dec. 6, 2006. Kinney, now a staff sergeant, serves as the public affairs chief for I MEF at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Forsythe transferred out of the Marine Corps and now serves as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves. (courtesy photo)
